Delicious and Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love

One of the many things you’d have to deal with, as a parent, is your kids getting hungry in between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. More often than not, you’d have to feed them packaged snacks while you whip up a major meal.

But are those snacks particularly delicious and healthy for your kids? Most of these packaged snacks, even if they actually taste good, are filled with artificial ingredients, added sugars, and even refined flour. 

These recipes are not even good for adults, not to talk about how they’d react with kids still in their formative years. 

It is therefore important to feed them snacks that are not only delicious but filled with nutrients that will aid in their development.

Oatmeal

Yes, oatmeal is quite the perfect breakfast meal but they also make for a great snack. Oats is known to be high in soluble fiber which multiplies the number of good bacteria in the digestive system. 

Make your own oatmeal with whole, rolled oats couple with 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon. For sweetness, you can add a teaspoon of honey or a couple of diced apples. It is recommended that you make the oatmeal with milk instead of opting for water. 

Fruit Smoothies 

Fruit smoothies are not just delicious but packed with a truckload of nutrients. Your kids will definitely love it. Here’s one recipe you need to try out:

  • 1 cup of whole milk. 
  • 2 cups of fresh spinach
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt 
  • 2 cups of frozen berries

Combine all these items together inside a blender and blend them. 


Hard-boiled eggs 

Eggs are high in protein and highly nutritious for your kids. They also contain several minerals and vitamins including selenium, riboflavin, and B12. Eggs also contain carotenoids which are vital for eye health. 

Raisin packs 

Raisins are known to contain iron—the nutrient that is necessary to move oxygen throughout your kids’ bodies. 

They also contain oleanolic acid which shields your children’s teeth from cavities.

Sweet potato fries 

Sweet potato is one of the major sources of beta-carotene. This is a nutrient that is converted to vitamin A inside the body. Sweet potato fries also promote healthy eyes and skin. 

To make them, you’ll need the following recipes  

  • 1 fresh sweet potato. 
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil. 

You’re expected to peel and slice the sweet potato and turn it into a frying pan containing olive oil. 

Banana oat cookies

Banana oat cookies are quite the tasty and nutrient snack your kids will love. To prepare, you would need the following recipes. 

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla 
  • 1/3 cup of coconut oil 
  • ½ cup of chocolate chips 
  • 3 ripe bananas. 
  • 2 cups of rolled oats

Mash the bananas and mix everything in a bowl. Pour the mixture into a greased cookie sheet and bake them for 25 minutes at 340ºF. 


Cottage Cheese 

Cottage Cheese is another wonderful snack rich in vitamin B12, calcium, and selenium. Vitamin B12 is necessary for brain growth and your children’s development. You can opt to serve the cookies with dried or fresh fruit, or simply serve it just like that. 

It is important that you feed your kids delicious and healthy snacks when they get hungry between meals. These listed snacks are not only delicious but filled with the required nutrients they need.
